TEHRAN- Czech Republic is willing to import gas from Iran, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Monday after his meeting with Czech Republic’s Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mladek in Tehran.

Zanganeh said the export of gas to Czech Republic through pipeline is not possible at the moment, but the European country could make a long-term LNG deal with Iran, according to the Shana news agency.

*** ‘Czech firms could invest in Iran’s petchem projects’

Zanganeh also said that the Czech companies could make investment in the implementation of Iran’s petrochemical projects.

Iran is interested in the Czech firms’ investments in its petrochemical sector, but they could participate in the implementation of Iranian projects as the investors not the contractors, the minister noted.

*** “Czech Republic, Iran capable for joint-manufacture of oil equipments’

Zanganeh further stated that Czech companies can also cooperate with the Iranian firms on the joint manufacturing of oil equipments in Iran and also transferring related technology to the Islamic Republic.

He said the Czech Republic is a strong industrial country which could cooperate with Iran for the manufacturing of ten types of oil equipments in Iran.

The jointly-manufactured products could be used inside Iran and also be exported to the other regional countries, the minister added.

*** ‘Iran interested in Czech underground gas storage capabilities’

Referring to the capabilities of the Czech Republic in the field of underground natural gas storage, Zanganeh said Iran expressed its willingness to cooperate with the European country in this area.

He said the two sides decided to conduct more negotiations in this field.

Last September, Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek, who had traveled to Iran on the head of a 60-member trade delegation, said his country is eager to boost trade with the Islamic Republic.

Iran will dispatch a trade delegation to Prague in spring 2016, Zaoralek stated.
In May 2015, Iran and the Czech Republic signed a double taxation avoidance agreement in a bid to give a boost to the bilateral trade.
